Yarrow (Achillea) is one of the most important species of medicinal plants that has many applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and health industries. In order to investigate the effect of seed priming on the germination characteristics of degenerate seeds,, A factorial As the form of completely randomized design with 3 replications carried in the greenhouse of the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Research Institute Forests and Rangeland in 2022.. I, three yarrow species, Achillea.nobolis, A.millifolium and A.tenufolia, were artificially senesced by applying a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 100% (for 0, 48 hours, 72 hours), seed priming at 3 levels, including hydropriming (soaking for 24 hours in distilled water), gibberellic acid, 250 and 500 ppm. The analysis of variance showed that there were main and interaction effects of species, seed priming and seed deterioration for all the traits of emergence Characteristics were significant at P≤ 1% . Comparison of the species showed , that of A. nobolis species higher values of all traits except for dry matter compare with two other species. The species of A. millifolium was ranked as second level. The highest emergence rate was obtained in non- deteriorated (hydro) seeds. Three species have high average mean values with gibberellic acid 250 ppm for all traits except the ratio of root/stem and percentage of dry matter. . The highest root length /Shoot were obtained with gibberellic acid 250 ppm, which indicates that the aged seeds inside Pots have more rooting improvement for their survival

The effects of accelerated aging treatment on seed germination of Echinops was quantified using nonlinear models using Sigmoid, Segmented, Gompertz and Richards models and hydrotime model in Weibull, Normal and Gombel distribution functions. Experimental factors were seed aging for (0, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hour) at relative humidity (RH)=100%, temperature (T) =40 oC and seven osmotic potential (0, -0.2, -0.4, -0.6, -0.8, -1, -1.2 MPa). Results of experiment revealed that interaction effect of aging and osmotic stress on seed germination and germination rate of Echinopsis was significant. Seed germination parameters of Echinops were increase by aging treatment up to 72 h but it was declined at aging treatment of 96 h. Seed germination and germination rate were increased by aging treatment till 72 h but at 96 h, both were declined. Gompertz exhibited the best fit for no aged, 24 h and 48 h while sigmoid function was provided the best fit for aging at 72 and 96 h. Among all studied distribution function, it was revealed that normal distribution was the most effective one thus base potential (ψb) and hydrotime constant (θH) were -0.68 MPa and 6 MPa hour, respectively. However, after 96 h of aging treatment ψb and θH were estimated 0.731 MPa and 19.3 MPa hour, respectively. It can be concluded that freshly harvested Echinops exhibited some levels of seed dormancy which was alleviated at mild to moderate aging conditions, but after 72 h, deteriorative mechanism led to damaging effects and declined seed germination quality.

An experiment was done in the research laboratory of Tehran university in order to evaluate the effect of various conditions of seed storage on storability of rapeseed primed seed. The experiment factors have included the seed priming using .05% lotion of KNO3 for 12 hours (primed and non primed with a this lotion)–package (vaccum packaging, nano and aluminium bags)–seed storage condition including: moisture content (5, 9, 13 and 17 %), temperatures(15 and 30) and storage periods(1,2,3,4,5 and 6 months). Analysis of variance demonstrated that with increasing the duration of storage and also with increasing seed content humidity amount and storage temperature, the seeds vigour would be decreased and in studing indexes, this decrease occurred in the first month of storage in 17% seed water content and 30 C temperature treatment and not in other onces, which shows that storage condition in more important in storage than other factors. For all indices, germination rate and percentage in rapeseed seed, there were significant differences in main, double and triple interaction effects at 1% probability level. the nano packagings is usually suggested as a suitable packaging to preserve the seeds in these condition.

In order to study the effects of storage temperature and humidity on seed germination properties and seedling growth of (Nigella sativa L.), a factorial experiment was conducted at the seed technology laboratory of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University of Khuzestan based on the randomized block design with four replications. Experimental treatments were different levels of relative humidity during storage (33, 75 and 100%), storage temperatures (30, 35, 40 and 45 oC) and storage durations (24, 48, 72 and 96 hour) and control. Results showed that increase of storage temperature and relative humidity led to lower seed germination percentage and germination rate, reduction in the root and shoot length and seedling vigor indices, while mean germination time and electrical conductivity increased. Among experimental treatments, the severe deterioration was observed at 100% relative humidity and 45 oC with the durations of 96 hour and at the medium deterioration treatments, of Nigella seeds were resealed from primary dormancy and seed germination was increased, accordingly. Fitted linear regression models by experimental treatments vs germination indices and seedling growth showed that except mean germination time of seed germination, all the traits exhibited linear relationship with three independent variables studied in this experiment

In order to study the effect of accelerated aging and priming with gibberellic acid on germination characteristics, lipids peroxidation, soluble protein, total phenol and electrical conductivity of wheat seed (Pishtaz Cultivar) an experiment in factorial laid out completely randomized design with three replications was conducted at Seed Technology Laboratory, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Ferdowsi University, Mashhad, Iran, in 2016. Factors were included of seed aging(100% relative humidity at 40°C) in three levels [low deterioration (4 days), medium deterioration (6 days) and high deterioration (7 days)] and priming with gibberellic acid in four levels (0, 25, 50 and 100 ppm). Analysis of variance showed that the effect of seed aging, priming with gibberellic acid and interaction between two factors on all traits were significant. Based on the means comparison of the traits germination percentage, germination rate, soluble protein and total phenol decreased with increasing aging time. But, the level of malondyaldeid and electrical conductivity increased due to damage to cell membrane with increasing aging time. Investigation of interaction between two factors showed that the priming with gibberellic acid reduced the negative effects of seed aging on all traits.

Borage is one of the important medicinal plants with unequal and poor seed germination as a result of deterioration during storage. With attention to abundance of salty water and soils in country, this research was contacted to study of the effect of priming and deterioration of seed on germination, growth and biochemistry characteristic of borage under salinity stress. The experimental treatments were salinity stress, seed priming and deterioration duration (0, 8 and 14 hours). The results showed that percentage and rate of germination, seedling dry weight and length and weight were decreased with increasing of salinity stress levels and duration of deterioration. Seedlings dry weight loss was about 75% to 78% under salinity stress. Activity of peroxidase and catalase enzymes and proline content in seedling were increased under salinity stress, and this increase in seedlings from primed seeds was significantly higher than those of control seeds. Seed priming significantly increased the seed germination, growth and prolin content of seedling in both salinity stress and deterioration conditions. Seed priming caused a 1.6 and 2.5- fold increase in the catalase activity of seedlings derived from undeteriorated and deteriorated (14 hours) seeds, respectively. Generally, seed priming with ascorbic acid was reduced the negative effects of salinity stress and deterioration through increasing seed vigor and improving the biochemical properties of seedlings, and led to improve the seed germination and seedling growth under favorable and unfavorable conditions.

In order to investigate the effects of seed deterioration on the activity of antioxidant enzymes and lipid peroxidation in pumpkin seedlings a factorial experiment conducted based on completely randomized design with three replications. Treatments were three deterioration levels (control, 5 and 10 days deterioration at 45◦C and 95-100% relative humidity) and three germination temperatures (15, 25 and 35°C). Results showed that activity of superoxide dismutase and catalase were the highest at 5 days aging and 25°C, and activity of peroxidase was the highest at non-aging and 25°C. Also, the highest amount of Malondialdehyde (7.1 mmol gr-1FW) observed in the seeds with 10 days deterioration and 15°C. The highest respiration index (0.018 mg) achieved in 5 days deterioration and 35°C and the lowest value (0.009 mg) was related to 10 days deterioration and 35°C. It seems that reduction in seed vigor under deterioration and high temperatures causes to oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation and leads to increase in the activity of antioxidant enzymes in order to face the related damages. Considering results obtained from germination and antioxidant enzymes activity the best temperature for germination of aged seeds of pumpkin was 15◦C.

Storage conditions, especially high moisture storage and high temperature environments, greatly affect the quality of oil seeds. In order to investigate the effect of temperature, seed moisture content and storage time on the deterioration of flax seed oil a factorial experiment was conducted based on a completely randomized design with four replications in the seed lab of Yasouj University. The factors included the temperature at four levels (15, 25, 35 and 45 °C), moisture content in 5 levels (initial moisture content, 5, 9, 13 and 17%) and six storage times (30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 days). The results showed that germination and normal seedlings percentage, germination rate and vigor index reduced with increasing moisture content and during storage at each temperature level and with a combination of high temperature and moisture content this reduction was more severe. The lowest level of deterioration was in 5 °C with 5% moisture content that after 180 days storage, viability was reduced from 93 to 90 percent. Over time and with increasing moisture content, electrical conductivity also increased, and this increase was greater at high temperatures and seed lots with high electrical conductivity had low viability
