To study the relationship between seed size and aging on cardinal temperatures of canola cv. Hyola 50, seed germination an experiment was conducted based on a randomized complete design with three replications. Seeds were classified in to four groups based on their diameter (1.4, 1.8, 2 and 2.2 mm) and considered as the first experimental factor. The Second factor was various durations of accelerated aging treatment (0, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 hours (40oC, RH=100%) and the third factor was nine constant temperatures in which seeds were germinated (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 ˚C). Cardinal temperatures were quantified for germination fraction of 50% using four nonlinear model: beta, beta modify, dent-like and segmented. The result indicted beta model better described responses germination rate to temperature compared with others models and accelerated aging and sizes did not affect the change model base temperature was about 1.15 OC in sizes 1.4 mm and increase in size to 2.2 mm deceased to 0.11 OC. The optimal temperature range was about 21.37 to 21.58 OC and the maximum temperature was 40.2 to 40.8 OC. it was also found that different seed sizes did not have a significant difference in terms of thermal time and deterioration increased the basal germination temperature and thermal time coefficient and reduced the optimal and maximum temperature, that it can show necessity delay in planting date in cold areas or early planting in tropical areas in these types of seeds.

Germination is one of the most sensitive stages of plant life, which is affected by various environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. Because seed standard germination test alone cannot accurately describe seedling emergence in field conditions, seed strain tests such as accelerated aging test (seed deterioration) are used. In this research, germination and biochemical indices of linseed (Linum usitatissimum Var. Norman) in moisture potential of 0, -0.2, -0.4, -0.6, -0.8, -1.2 and -1.2 MPa under accelerated aging conditions at temperatures 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35°c were evaluated. The results showed that the percentage and rate of germination and seedling vigor index in accelerated aging and non-accelerated aging respectively were increased by increasing temperature up to 20 and 25 ° C, , then decreasing to 35 ° C. And with decreasing potential water, in terms of accelerated aging, showed its lowest level at any temperature. The amount of soluble protein, catalase activity and proline content of seeds increased with decreasing water potential and accelerated aging effects at each temperature. Also, with increasing temperature, protein content and catalase enzyme activity of Linum usitatissimum seed are increased; proline content of the seed decreased. The results of this study showed that Linum usitatissimumis resistant to high and low temperatures in the early stages of germination under favorable temperature conditions of plants resistant to dehydration and under stress-free conditions.

Dehydration or Aging is one of the vigor reducing and seed germination limiting agents. Inappropriate storage places, especially the gene banks, can speed up the aging process in a variety of seeds. In this study, to improve the adverse effects of seed aging, hormone treatments with GA, Cytokinin, Auxin and Salicylic acid in concentrations of 50, 100 and 150 ppm (and distilled water as a control) on the quality of the naturally and synthetic deteriorated seeds of wheat were studied in the seed laboratory of Agriculture and natural resources college, Tehran University in 2015. After hormonal treatment, germination under salt stress in three levels, 0, -4 and -8 bar were investigated. The results showed that the naturally aged seeds had a higher mean value for all the traits. Treatment with cytokinin hormone showed higher percentage and germination rate and WGI between others hormones and all the hormonal treatments were better than control treatment (distilled water) in all traits and increased salinity stress tolerance. Salinity stress could affect all traits except the Mean Germinations Time.

Germination and seedling production have an important role in crop production. This stage is influenced by quality of the seed strongly. Seed priming with gibberellic (GA3 100 ppm) acid and brassinosteroid (BR 100 ppm) on deteriorated wheat (Triticum aestivum. L) seeds were studied. A factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design with three replications was conducted in 2016. Treatments were seed aging (non-aged and accelerated aged) and seed pretreatment with GA3 and BR. No priming and hydro priming also were used as controls. Analysis of variance showed that the interaction of accelerated aging and priming was significant for germination percentage, plumule length, R/P L, germination rate, MDG, and GI; and for radicle length, DGS and CVG at 5% level. However, on the seedling length and mean germination time was not significant. The results showed that accelerated aging significantly reduced the soluble protein in seedlings and in turn caused a significant increase in malondialdehyde, soluble sugar, and proline content. The results showed that, the germination characteristics were improved under GA3 treatment.

High temperature during seed set and seed filling can reduce yield and seed quality. In order to evaluate the effect of high temperature during planting date and also plant density on soybean seed quality, an experiment was conducted at two locations, namely, Seed and Plant Certification and Registration Institute in Karaj and Agricultural and Natural Resource Center of Moghan, in 2013. The studied factors were included planting date (5th of May, 5th of June and 5th of July), plant density (300, 400 and 500 thousand plant/ha) and soybean varieties (Williams and L17) were sown in the rate of 40 plants per m-2 at 5th May, 5th June and 5th July. The experiment was conducted as a factorial based on a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The results of standard germination test showed that in Moghan area, the highest normal seedling percentage (92.1%) was obtained at fifth of June and in Karaj area, it (96.2%) was gained at fifth of July. In addition, it was noticed that cv. L17 in Moghan and cv. Williams in Karaj had the highest normal seedling percentage. The results of accelerated aging test was cleared that the normal seedling percentage in karaj was more than Moghan area and it showed that the quality of seed that were produced in Karaj was better than Moghan area. There was no significant difference between areas in 300 and 400 thousand of plant/ha and in these both density, the result of Karaj was better than Moghan area, but there was significant difference between normal seedling percentage after accelerated aging test in Karaj (77.6%) and Moghan (58%) in 500 thousand plant/ha. The highest seedling vigor index (11.75) was obtained in 400 thousand plants/ha at fifth of July in Karaj area and the lowest rate of it (5.41) was observed in 300 thousand plants/ha at fifth of June in Karaj area.

Oil content and fatty acid composition are the most important factors for assessing and describing oilseeds. On the other hand, seed germination and seedling establishment are affected by seed reserves. In order to investigate the germination characteristics of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) seeds as related totheiroil content and fatty acids composition, series of laboratory and greenhouse pot experiments were conducted in Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Experiments were arranged based on a completely randomized design with 15 treatments and four replications. The experimental treatments were consisted of 15 sesame cultivars: Darab 2, Darab 14, Dashtestan 2, Dashtestan 5, Esfaraen, IS, JL-13, Kalat, Kashmar, Mashhad, Oltan, Sistan, TS-3, Varamin 2822, and Yellow White. The results showed that the low mean germination time (MGT) and mean emergence time (MET) were detected in Dashtestan 2, Dashtestan 5 and IS cultivars. In contrast, the high MGT and MET were observed in Yellow White and Mashhad cultivars. Although, there were no statistically differences between sesame cultivars for seed nitrogen concentration and oil percentage, significant differences were observed in terms of seed phosphorus concentration. The highest and the lowest seed P concentration were obtained in Dashtestan 2 and Yellow White cultivars, respectively. There were no significant correlation between MET and fatty acids, except for oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids. A negative correlation between oleic acid and MET (R2= 0.73**) and also a positive correlation between linolenic acid and MET (R2= 0.73**) was observed. Therefore, it seems that sesame seed vigor highly depends on unsaturated fatty acids composition.

Seed priming improves some properties of seedling. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of salicylic acid and gibberellins on germination characteristics and changes of biochemically of sunflower seeds under accelerated aging, experimental design was factorial with complete randomized design as base design with 3 replications. The first factor was priming by salicylic acid and gibberellin, secondary factor was combinations 4 levels of aging (0, 2, 4 and 6 days of aging at 41°C). The results showed that the priming and aging effects on germination percentage, germination index, normal seedling percentage, seedling length, vigor index, abnormal seedling percentage, catalase and ascorbate peroxidase were significant, but on mean time to germination not significant. Results showed that, the highest germination characteristics were attained from priming by salicylic acid and gibberellins under non aged conditions. Also, seed priming increases enzyme activity.
